NBC "Date Line" airs murder story without opening line "In the normally quiet, upscale, community.."
In a move that mortified audiences and the television broadcast community as a whole, on March 11, NBC's "Dateline" aired a murder mystery which took place in a poor, run down, crime-ridden, urban area. NBC executives released a statement saying that an internal investigation into the matter had begun. "No self-respecting modern news show about murder mysteries has done anything like this, it was totally unexpected," explained the network executives.
